All I've seen of nature

by Ashley Young

All I've seen of nature
Lends to the belief
That whether plant or creature
All will suffer grief.

Mankind no better creation
Than any God did make
But we all have the option
To succeed or break.

It is not our lot in life
That determines who we'll be
Whether it is joy or strife
The choice is up to me.

Let me introduce myself

Hey! My name is Ashley and I'm a writer.

What's the name of my book, you ask? Well, I haven't written a book yet. What publication do I write for? I don't. And before you ask, you wouldn't recognize my name from anywhere either. Because, unless you read a tiny newspaper in the metro-Detroit area about 8 years ago, you never would've seen my name in print anywhere!

I can hear what you're thinking. "So, why do you call yourself a writer then?"

I'm so glad you asked!

I write every single day. Nothing that would be seen in a magazine, or in a book, or even anywhere online usually. But I write every day. I write in a journal, for my own sanity. I write to do lists, sticky note inspiration, love notes, social media posts, texts to loved ones, work emails, iPhone notes, more to do lists, daily observations, and occasionally these blog posts. I have even been attempting to write a novel for a couple years now, with not a ton of traction.

I want you to understand that if I am a writer, so are you!

You can totally do this!

Is it hard? Absolutely!

Will it make you feel like you don't know how you've managed to string words together your whole life? For sure!

But will you finally have a breakthrough and write the work you've been dreaming of? Maybe. I guess we will find out!

Go write friends! No more excuses! You CAN do it!
